Any wine enthusiast would shudder at the mere mention of Romanée-Conti. In 1760, Prince Louis-François de Bourbon-Conti purchased a land in Vosne-Romanée that had been previously cultivated by the priors of Saint-Vivant. After being confiscated during the Revolution and sold to the highest bidder in 1794, the 1.8-hectare plot was renamed Romanée-Conti, and it would later give its name to the most prestigious domain in Burgundy. Today, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti owns 25 hectares of vines in Vosne, mainly on the great growths of the commune, including La Tâche, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg, Echézeaux, Grands-Echézeaux, and, of course, Romanée-Conti. The estate’s other grand crus are also exceptional, thanks to the biodynamic viticulture and whole grape vinification practices. La Tâche, a monopole of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, is an AOC and Grand Cru vineyard for red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, encompassing approximately 6.25 hectares.
